Prince Frederik André Henrik Christian, officially: His Royal Highness The Crown Prince of Denmark is the heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Denmark – the Prince was born to Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik in Copenhagen on 26 May 1968.
As a young Prince, Frederik was educated both at home and at regular schools, he attended Krebs Skole, then privately tutored at Amalienborg Palace. Secundary school education was done in France when he was a boarder at Ecole des Roches.
He attended the University of Aarhus where he studied Political Science, his studies there included a year at Harvard University. Work experience just after completing his degree was at the Danish Permanent Diplomatic Mission to the United Nations in New York City.
Prince Frederik has also carried out extensive military training with the Danish Defence Forces, he was required to complete training in all three branches of the military in preparation for his future role as Head of the Danish Defence Forces. He attended the Royal Danish Defence College, he event went on to lecture with the Institute of Strategy at the College.
The Prince speaks Danish, English, French and German.
His Royal Highness is a keen sportsman, and is often seen sailing and running – he successfully completed several marathons in New York City, Copenhagen and Paris. The Prince is also a member of the International Olympic Committee and is patron of several sport organisations.
His interest range from science and development to sustainability and climate change. The youth is also an interest of his, which lead him to launch the Crown Prince Frederik Foundation which works to promote financial assistance for students to attend university.
In his role as Crown Prince of Denmark, Frederik often travels abroad promoting Denmark, he has paid official visits to many countries and often acts as Regent in the absence of the Queen in the Denmark.
